To use Sorenson VRS (SVRS) to make an emergency call, use the number keys on your remote to enter 911 in the dial field, highlight, and hit enter. Be ready to give the interpreter your name and to tell them the address of the emergency.

Although Sorenson VRS is an option for you to use in an emergency, you should keep a TTY available. During a power outage or an Internet connection failure you would not be able to use your videophone to make a 911 emergency call using Sorenson VRS. Your TTY should work in those situations if it is equipped with a backup battery. Dialing 911 from your voice telephone or through TTY services is still recommended for immediate identification of your location.
